BAO develops programmes connecting artists, students, collectors and cultural professionals through direct engagement with contemporary art. The programmes combine artistic access, professional knowledge, cultural exchange and carefully organised local experiences.

BAO Artist Residency

Berlin residency programme.

The BAO Artist Residency supports artistic research, production and international exchange in Berlin. Each annual cycle is designed for a small group of up to three artists, allowing the programme to remain focused, flexible and responsive to individual practices.

The residency provides artists with opportunities to engage with Berlin's artistic ecosystem through studio work, professional meetings, museum and gallery visits, conversations with curators and artists, and public or private presentations.

Proposed Period

Completed before or during Berlin's major autumn art season, with activities connected where appropriate to Berlin Art Week and the surrounding gallery programme.

BAO develops tailored international study programmes for students, young artists, collectors, educators, institutions and cultural professionals — providing structured access to contemporary art beyond conventional cultural tourism.

Contemporary Art Ecosystem

A curated introduction to Berlin's contemporary art scene — museum and institutional visits, commercial and independent gallery visits, artist studio visits, private collection visits, curator and artist conversations, Berlin Art Week and Gallery Weekend programmes, seminars and group discussions.

Student & University

Academic Programmes

Designed for art students, researchers and educational institutions — art-school visits, artist studios, portfolio discussions, curatorial seminars, institutional tours, professional development sessions, and moving-image and documentary workshops.

Collector Programmes

Deeper Engagement

Designed for collectors seeking deeper engagement with European contemporary art — private studio visits, gallery meetings, museum exhibitions, art-fair visits, collection introductions, artist research and acquisition advisory.

Each programme is developed according to the participants' interests, experience, schedule and budget. BAO can organise short visits, intensive one-week programmes or longer research itineraries in Berlin and other European cities.
